Caisson Technologies Helps LabConnect Overhaul Telecom Solution During Office Move

Caisson provides telecom consulting and telecom brokerage services to Seattle biotech company, LabConnect

International, biotechnology company, LabConnect LLC chose Seattle, Washington-based telecommunications consultancy, Caisson Technologies to improve telecom services and equipment at its new Seattle location and existing Johnson City, Tennessee location.

Headquartered in Seattle, LabConnect LLC had outgrown its SODO area location and was preparing to move to a bigger space in Pioneer Square. Caisson Technologies helped transfer and update the company's entire telecom solution, including its phone system.

“Moving to new office space is an ideal time to consider options for improved business telecom service because telecom is geographic in nature. Every office building has access to different networks, technologies, carriers and pricing. What worked at an old location may not even be available at a new space.” –Brian Wade, President, Caisson Technologies

Also, moving offers the perfect opportunity to simplify technologies across multiple office locations, says Brian Wade. “It's really the time to make telecom work harder for your entire enterprise.” Which is exactly what he helped LabConnect LLC do.

At the SODO location, the company's telecom solution was patched together with Integra Telecom POTS lines and Comcast Business Internet service. Caisson Technologies determined that Comcast was not available at the Pioneer Square location and helped the company take advantage of Integra Telecom's 5MB Ethernet Over Copper (EoC) Business Connect promotion, instead. This promotion includes Voice PRI Trunks, 5MB of Dedicated Internet Access (DIA) with future scalability (up to 60MB), conference calling, long distance and email and web hosting.

Also, the company's employees were working on 1 and 2 line phones from an office supply store. The company wanted a more professional business phone system. With Caisson's help, LabConnect compared MS Lync, hosted PBX and on-premises PBX for the new location.

"The fact that I had somebody in my corner was a big advantage of working with Brian Wade at Caisson Technologies. Brian's expertise helped me make more informed judgments. I know a little bit about phone systems, for example, but not enough to really make a good decision. Brian helped me make a good decision by having a stance about it, helping me find options and presenting the options in a way that made sense to us.” -Jonathan Siegel, CTO, LabConnect LLC

After exploring many options, the company chose to go with Integrated EoC for their connectivity and an on-premises Mitel 5000 PBX with 10 Mitel 5330 IP phones and two (Power Over Ethernet) POE switches, all deployed and supported by Integra Telecom. When and if the Johnson City, TN location decides to move or replace its existing phone system, Jonathan Siegel decided that the Mitel offered a great platform on which to build.

“LabConnect LLC is a great example of a business that made its telecom work harder. It's my great pleasure to help them with that.” – Brian Wade, Caisson Technologies http://www.caissontechnologies.com
